Why “Spondee Studio”?
I used to keep my author life and my marketer life pretty separate. But when I started bringing my author hat to my client projects, the work changed for the better. My craft as a writer shapes my approach as a marketer: I'm exacting with language, I know how to use storytelling to hook a distractible audience, and I step back to ask "why" at every stage of a campaign.
That’s how Spondee was born.
“Spondee” is a term from the poetry world. It’s a two-syllable unit where both syllables are emphasized.
Spondees are the least common metrical pattern. The name is both a nod to small choices that make a big difference and a reminder that sometimes to stand out, you need to do things a little differently.
What’s this about a book?

With more than a decade of experience in creative and marketing teams for B2B and B2C brands, if there’s a type of content that touches the audience journey, I’ve probably helped make it. Here are a few of my favorite projects.

This report was a cornerstone in Nomadic’s pivot to a focus on content marketing, garnering more than 3,000 views, 14 new and expansion deals with attributed revenue, and significant organic sharing across the learning and development community. The associated blog series was part of a wider content strategy I spearheaded that contributed to a 3x increase in referring domains and a 2x increase in organic traffic, making search one of the most important drivers of new sales leads and coining terminology and framing now used across the L&D industry.

I loved writing this practice-forward guide to creating a great leadership development program (at any budget!), which served as the central asset in Next Shift Learning's go-to-market campaign launching its Emerging Leaders Program service line.
-
I led editorial, production, and newsletter management for the Josh Bersin Academy newsletter for an audience of 30k global subscribers in the HR industry, transforming the channel into the number one source of new memberships and supporting a 21% increase in click-through rates across all email marketing.
-
I led Uplimit’s rebrand as an AI-centric product under a new name, consolidating the product offerings into three key solutions, overhauling value propositions, and rewriting web copy for a full relaunch, as well as creating a suite of refreshed sales enablement assets. I also simultaneously launched a new weekly direct email strategy that drove a 6x increase in demo requests.

I led English-language editorial work for Tompkins Conservation’s Route of Parks global launch, earning coverage in The Guardian, National Geographic, and BBC, including translating and adapting more than 25k words of text across web, video, and printed assets like their El Amarillo book.
-
I worked with the Amara Organic Foods founder and CEO to refresh their brand story in advance of their Series A, rewriting the About Us section of the Amara website and reworking the founder pitch, resulting in a $12 million investment.

In addition to the Josh Bersin Academy, I’ve run newsletters for several other organizations, including launching Nomadic Learning’s Field Notes. I also previously wrote the Storytelling Weekly to offer storytelling advice to other writers and creatives, and it gives a good sense of my personal voice.
